History

In the early 1900s, our Clintwood, Virginia location was used by a blacksmith. The lot was later sold and used for automobile sales. Johnson Chevrolet has been a family owned and operated automobile dealership since 1971.

Since the '70s, it has remained an automobile dealership. Fred S. Johnson, who worked at the dealership in the clean-up shop during his teen years, acquired partial ownership in July 1971 and it became Johnson-Mullins Chevrolet-Olds, Inc.

In April of 1978, Mr. Johnson acquired full ownership of the dealership and the name became Johnson Chevrolet Olds, Inc. Later, he added Buick and became the area's only 4 line GM dealer. He remained very active in the business until he passed away in July 1995.

It is still a family-owned and operated automobile dealership with a focus on customer satisfaction, best price and selection, and community support. At Johnson Chevrolet we still believe in this philosophy: "If you treat your customers right, they will come back."
